Ooohh, Mythril ore! A basic for games!

I thought, for an ore, it was quite shiny, and it had some weight to it. It was wrapped in cloth, so I was wondering what it could be, but to think he was carrying a literal treasure. That…… allow this living me to gratefully use it.

The owned money seems like something that could turn troublesome later on so I’ll leave it. It seems like my pockets will be considerably rich with all that I’ve collected today, after all. And there’s that poop, too.

Now then, what should be done with this skeleton?

I could probably put it in my bag since it’s dead, but I do not want to stuff it in there. It should be good enough to take note of this place as I leave and report it later on. Just leaving it like this does not feel right after all.

What’s more, this…… genuinely hand-made protective charm full of affection. Although it is a simple one, where a piece of string is poked through a hole made on a stone, it is filled with love from the hands that made it.

If you find something like this…… you can’t just leave it as it is, can you? I do not want to pretend I never saw it.

Without encountering any danger in particular, aside from finding the skeleton, I safely returned to the village.

I was on guard while thinking of what I would do if a monster confronted me, but I did not even find a single rabbit. I do not know if there are rabbits in this world though.

I greeted Marlow the guard, and went into the village, and received the baptism of the children. Those brats, they actually have the nerve to demand the candy I carried on me.

With my whole body covered with kids again, I slowly went to Jerome’s shop. Once we came in front of the shop, the children separated themselves from me and dispersed. Were they told not to enter the store? They are quite disciplined, aren’t they?

“Good afternoonー”

“Oh? If it isn’t Takeru. What are you after today?”

“I came to stock up on some necessities, and I also picked up all sorts of things again, so.”

“Ooh! What have you brought this time? Come show me.”

I took out all sorts of things from my bag just as I was told. Because I can put in a limitless number of things. I ended up collecting with reckless abandon. Medicinal herbs, wild plants, mushrooms, and things like animal fangs and fallen fur. I held the poop between two fingers and pulled it out.

Jerome handpicked one after another for verification; humming and admiring, he looked busy.

As for me, I surveyed the surrounding interior of the store, and discovered several sheets of towel-shaped cloth that felt nice to touch, and slipper-shaped sandals. Although my heels would stick out with sandals, if it’s just when staying in my room, it won’t bother me. Let’s also buy a few handy pouches and poop-exclusive bags.

There were durable-looking gloves and a decent iron short sword, but as for something that’s likely to be used as a proper weapon…… There was none.

“Oooh, Takeru! You’re awesome, aren’t ya!”

“Mmm?”

He suddenly raised his voice at me and hit my back repeatedly. It doesn’t hurt but, what is it?

“Each and every one of them are at their bestest condition, ain’t they! Marlow did say you were a specialist in raw material collection, so he actually meant that was your job?!”

“No, I’m not really a specialist or anything.”

“Whaaaat are you saying, this rascal. With this much amazing stuff on ya, just cut the crap, will ya!”

Is he complimenting me, or criticizing me?

“Hey, hey, taking your bag into account, there is something that I would like to request of you.”

“It depends on the contents of your request. There are still a lot of things I don’t know after all.”

“It’s nothing major. There’s also the request from a merchant of Belkaim though. There are rumors that mythril ore can be found in the mountain further east of Tolmi Village. Well, there are adventurers who are also looking for it, but it is yet to be found. That’s why, I’d like you to go to  the mountain and collect mythril ore.”

Uhh. Mythril ore, huh…….

I could just take out the one I picked up before and show him, but that is — how should I say this…… if I just took that out nonchalantly, my conscience would hurt after all.

“If there is something like a map to that mountain…”

“Really!?”

“I won’t know if I don’t try going.”

“Alright!”

“That, and some necessary expenses……”

“Leave it to me. Whether you find any mythril ore or not, I will provide a deposit of 1,000 Reib for expenses. Your completion bonus will be 10,000 Reib or more depending on how much you found.”

Oooohh. 10,000 Reib!

“Is it really alright to pay for costs even if I don’t find it?”

“You’ll find all sorts of goods on your way to the mountain, won’t you? If you give me priority when you sell those, then I won’t mind. At that point, it will only be like surplus expense for me.”

“I see.”

“What will you do? It might be dangerous. In that area, monsters up to Rank D could come out.”

Ehh…

Monsters would come out?

“You have a bag that can carry this much raw material. Today, you also came back without a single scratch, so ‘that’ bag should also be good, right?”

What do you mean by ‘that’?

“I also have a bit of potion left. Wanna buy some?”

TRANSLATOR RANT:

Hope you all enjoyed that chapter! I just want to point out something about what Takeru meant with his conscience hurting if he just took out the mythril ore he found. This is not because he is being selfish, but as a business person, Jerome places more value in the rumor of mythril ore being found in that mountain because that means that it can be a source for him to trade (i.e. having a constant supply of mythril to sell). So if Takeru just showed him the one he had, it would not be what Jerome is truly hoping for and he would only end up giving the old man false hopes when he himself does not even know where the ore came from and if that mountain does have mythril ore.
